The G Texas Catering kitchen has been bustling this week preparing for the opening of The Artisan. Executive Chefs, Michael Gooch and Jones Reeder are putting their creative processes and extensive culinary experience to work as they create and test each dish that will be on the craft kitchen menu during the first 30 days of service.
Cooking has always been considered an art but, it’s a lot of science too! Just like any great scientist tests their hypothesis, The Artisan’s culinary team tests its recipes.
Testing is one of the most important (and delicious) processes of menu building. It allows our culinary team to perfect the flavor profile and portion size of each dish and ensure its tasting great before it becomes a menu item. Collaborating with an entire team of chefs with different specialties and a variety of culinary backgrounds to create a menu that represents regional and global cuisine requires a lot of moving parts. This process is essential for building consistency in ingredients and processes – your favorite dish will always taste the same regardless of who cooks it!
Now that you know how the menu was created – check back for a sneak peek of The Artisan’s first menu for the craft kitchen!
In addition to hosting weekly Happy Hours at the Terrace Bar, The Artisan serves freshly brewed bistro-style coffee at a kiosk in the lobby of the KPMG Building at HALL Arts. Beginning in July 2018, TheArtisan’s craft kitchen will serve a variety of chef-prepared, locally-sourced dishes in its market-style restaurant concept.
